Xtream Codes: how it works and how to set it up
Xtream Codes is an API used by many IPTV providers. Instead of a long M3U URL you receive three values: server address, username and password. A compatible player such as JeyVision Pro uses them to fetch live channels, movies and series already sorted into categories, with the EPG guide included.
Steps
1. Get the three values from your provider
You need the server (for example http://example.tv:8080), a username and a password. If you only have a get.php URL, the same values are inside it as parameters.
2. Add an Xtream playlist
In JeyVision Pro go to Playlists, Add, choose Xtream Codes and fill in the three fields. The playlist name is up to you.
3. Let the app fetch the catalogue
Live, VOD and series are requested separately from the API: you will see three sections with their categories. The EPG comes from the same server with no extra setup.
4. Check the expiry date
In the playlist details JeyVision Pro shows the expiry date and maximum connections reported by the server, handy to know when to renew with your provider.
Frequently asked questions
Is Xtream Codes legal?
It is a technical protocol, like M3U. Legality depends on the content your provider distributes: JeyVision Pro does not provide or sell subscriptions.
Xtream or M3U, which is better?
With Xtream you get sorted movies and series, posters and automatic EPG. M3U is universal and also works with free public lists. JeyVision Pro supports both.
The server responds but the list is empty
Check the case of username and password and that the address includes the port (e.g. :8080). If the problem persists, the account may have expired.
